A1 is a tangy sauce that is typically used with Steaks, and occasionally other meats, and is used like any other suace (meaning, it's applied by the person doing the actual eating)

It's pretty popular here in the States, and I use it myself.

Heaven

and possibly the best steak sauce I've ever eaten.

INCOMING GOOD NEWS: If I can successfully use a program called AutoCad (it draws building plans and the like), my father's friend might give me a job in Victoria! :D

Even if it's murder to live there, I know it's worth the high cost of living in Victoria.

It's a catsup-based condiment you put on sub-par meat that necessitates overcooking to hide its lacking quality.

That's the only use I've found for it, anyway. The label says "steak sauce", but the only sauce a good steak properly cooked needs is for you to break up the char in the pan with a little bit of whiskey and some light cream.

New here and so very happy to "meet" you all - have read so many of your posts.

Thought for sharing: Went to see an artist play at the goth club in Milwaukee over the weekend and was blown away. Steampunk cellist who goes by the name "Unwoman." I was blown away! Also tried absinthe for the first time there and was thoroughly impressed. Stellar weekend (first time at a goth club although I'm very much an adult - there is not one within 100 miles).

Have a lovely week!

Can anyone think of a really obscure language that only one country uses for me to learn so that I can annoy my ex? I'm recognising Greek words now, though good old Anglo-Saxon swearing still seems the best way of expressing my irritation at that fact. Grrrr.

Will Manx suffice?

The Gaelic languages are about as different as the Romance languages, in that there's virtually the same structure, but enough clear differences that they're non-interchangable and mixing them in certain ways can produce complete nonsense to some-one who only speaks one Gaelic dialect.

Excellent idea! Thank you. :) I've always had an idea of learning the ancient languages around the British Isles, but never got on to it. And they do sound beautiful spoken. :)

Yay Orlock. Moving should be good- a change of scenery at the very least.

Wednesday, I've heard some of Unwoman. I liked her mashup of Running up That Hill.

Post Re: Thoughts and Sharing Thread
So I've been single for a little while now. I've changed all my profiles to list me as single, which have suddenly given me a lot of attention.
But I'm so tired of what dating has become where I am. I don't know about you guys/girls, but what happened to the concept of just meeting someone somewhere neutral and seeing if you even like the other person? Am I the only one who prefers that?
I've been given a dosen red roses and an expensive necklace, and that wasn't even a real date. I've been invited to first class restaurants with dresscodes, and one wanted to take me out on the lake in his yacht so we could drink wine and fall asleep as the boat rocked gently back and forth.
I've been offered to go on vacations with people, for Christ's sake. This is not Pretty Woman. There is no need for that. I don't even really know the other person, and then I get showered with gifts and offers right away? Thank you to the gentlemen out there, but I think it's creepy.
I mean, I just want a beer and a talk. Is that too much to ask for? I feel like the above scenarios would take the idea of a date away. It would put too much pressure on me. I always thought of a date as something where you meet someone to see if you match, maybe go out dancing or watch a movie. The whole concept of people flaunting their money like this is new to me.

The attention is nice and all, but it's all a little too extreme for me. And now I'm done with sounding privileged and stuff. How are you all?

Alice: I think I can see what you're saying, don't want someone moving too fast and be kinda overbearing. I'm the last one to give dating advice to anyone though.

For me, today seemed pretty productive. My Geo class has the 'lab' portion attached to it that involves the actual thinking process and class work involved for it. We usually go in, do some bookwork, turn it in, and then go about our way.

Well, what made today so different than usual is that I spent about 20-25 minutes longer in this lab portion than I would have today because I pretty much had three quarters of the students wanting me to help them with the assignment. That tends to never happen. Made me feel like I was smart or something

I think that way too. A coffee or a walk in the park where I get to know a girl is best for me.

Also to me, a girl gets a yacht ride only if she deserves one. Look, I always pay for the first date so that she doesn't think I'm cheap but afterward if she hasn't contributed in some way by the 3rd date, I stop calling that woman. I figure if a woman's going to make me work for the goods, why shouldn't I do the same?

I get how the whole "dating" thing works based on evolutionary psychology and cultural knowledge - but if a woman expects me to honestly give more than the 20% disposable mental effort I need to play "the game", she has to show me why she's better than all the others. If a woman shows me that, I will conquer galaxies for her.

Otherwise after a week or so - if she hasn't shown me what's spiffy about her I stop dating that female. I'm sorry, but I'm not going to shell out my money and give up my time for someone who hasn't bothered much to make herself attractive or interesting to me.

Well:

Orlock- I recently moved, and the first things I did were buy *real* coffee (not Maxwell House), and get a library card. (See the who's reading what thread.) Moving can be good.

Alice- Yes, being (or becoming) single is an adjustment, and there are a number of advantages. And because I can't find on the inter-webs the Baltimore Consort version of this song (far and away the best), here's this, which shall become your anthem. (<-click!)
