Thanks ittybittybat. That gives me more strength to fight this difficult battle! I'm sure I'll be able to do this... -- Wed May 02, 2012 2:10 pm -- orlok wrote: A singular post of awe-striking, killer content is a myriad times better than 10,000 posts of pure, utter crap. But of course, the regulars here are pretty top notch so if I generally saw someone with like 800,000 posts, I'd probably think they'd be spiffy. Very insightful and very true... I agree with you 100%, good friend! It is not quantity, it is quality that truly matters (not only in this but in many aspects of life)!

Fairy: Your posts are anything but utter crap, dear. They always seem to be very well-thought out.
I'm mostly being silly when I comment on the post count. I made a joke out of it because, for some reason, when I saw Midi's post count, my jaw dropped. And then I laughed right after because I know that there are members that have wayyy more.

Thanks harpy. I hope things work out (and I'm sure they will) too.
Hugs to all that need them. You all rock.
I've just submitted my last assignment, so now all I have to do is my final exam. I'll do it on Saturday night, that way I can see The Avengers on Sunday (got my ticket already!).

They always seem to be very well-thought out. The thing is, half the time (and with most of the posts I make that seem pretty well-received), I'm just going on auto-pilot, where the most I actually think about what I'm saying is trying to remember how a few words are spelt. It's the times I put more than a modicum of thought into what I'm saying and how I'm saying it where people in general tend to tell me that I'm basically coming off like a loudmouth pretentious sciolist. I have no real gauge, other than whether or not I'm receiving praise for things said, of whether I'm genuinely talking crap and being a bother or not. I mean, I know some people are just going to be bothered by anybody challenging their presumed "authority" on a subject, so I know well enough to ignore harsh criticisms, unless it's something truly constructive (which is absurdly rare on the Internet), but if I'm being verbose and no-one directly responds, I tend to assume that means I'm just talking out of my arse, more often than not. So considering that I've managed to amass over 600posts in about six months, and aside from the 'what are you listening to?" thread, I rarely make any post with less than ten words, this translates to my brain that apparently I say a whole lot about nothing. I acknowledge that's my own problem, and that most people consider a constant need for praise to be rather childish and simple-minded (after all, that's really the best way to train dogs), which I'm far from, if an IQ score means anything to you, so I've simply learned to deal with my bad habit of assuming the worst by taking it with humour --if I was correct, then at least I've shown I can laugh at myself, and if I was wrong, then the worst thing I've done is bother those who find self-deprecating humour annoying.

Ugh. Will not go into pretentious mode, but I feel like crap mentally. That is all, proceed while I go on to blasting my music and eventually falling asleep

Sometimes I think "oh I shouldn't have posted/said that" or "Oh, I sound so dumb compared to such-and-such" but, like you, I think past that and get over those thoughts pretty quickly. Midi: That poem should go in your signature! Necro: YES! Rootbeer floats are awesome!

Lovely poem Midi. I really enjoyed reading it. I think I got up way too early today (7am). May go back to bed for a bit before studying for my exam on Saturday.
