What if Star Trek was not fiction?

...You mean those aren't transmissions from the future I'm watching??? *faints*

Seriously, if Star Trek weren't fiction? Universal tolerance and acceptance? Replicators around when we're hungry or need new clothes? Personal computers, laptops and handheld devices with advanced scanners, so when we're sick, we just call the doctor, he'll scan us remotely from where he is and tell our replicators what medicines to dispense? Transporters and faster-than-light travel so we'll always have vacation spots? Free energy provided by fusion devices? No money required and no need to actually work?? We'd fuckin' have it made! My happy ass would be hoppin' around the galaxy in a small shuttle I'd have acquired and I'd become an intergalactic journalist.

What if the world around us were some sort of simulation, the "Matrix" theory?

Holy shit folks, we have a troll! I haven't seen one of those here before! Are trolls a common occurrence?

Post Re: the "What if" thread
It would make a lot of sense for my life. If everything is a dream, then it's most certaintly someone else's dream and it's a very well imagined dream. The sheer complexity of what it takes to make a world, continually moving, working, striving to iron all it's own kinks out, and folding in on its self without ever reaching the point where, when, it entirly collapses, would mean that a person, computer, or even a fae with a mean streak is a lot smater than they've been given credit for. I'd cetantly like to wake up and meet them.

What if everyone knew the date they would die?

I'd know how to plan a dress for that special day.

What if Experimental Jazz was the new R'n'B?

Whoops, got a bit behind, but the following is for Puck (who, judging by your name, probably already knows this speech, but I canna resist)

Quote:
The Tempest
PROSPERO
Our revels now are ended. These our actors,
As I foretold you, were all spirits and
Are melted into air, into thin air:
And, like the baseless fabric of this vision,
The cloud-capp'd towers, the gorgeous palaces,
The solemn temples, the great globe itself,
Yea, all which it inherit, shall dissolve
And, like this insubstantial pageant faded,
Leave not a rack behind. We are such stuff
As dreams are made on, and our little life
Is rounded with a sleep.

Onto the topic at hand:
Then Bonobo will be appearing on "The Real Housedudes of the UK" in 2023.

What if Doctor Who had never been?

I would still be as ignorant of him as I am now.

What if no one ever disappointed you so greatly you (could) cry?

I know of so many rotten memories that wouldn't be in my head anymore.

What if there was no evil?

There would be much less hatred in the world.

What if people never suffered from headaches?

I would celebrate the day it happened.

My post-surgical vomiting adventures would have been much, much prettier. (Jaw surgery--ya know, you swallow a lotta blood...)

What if humans could hear the same register of sounds as dogs can?

The whole city of Metropolis would've heard Luthor's message for Superman in Superman: The Movie and panicked after thinking Luthor was going to poison the water supply.

What if AI was invented tomorrow?

Then I do believe that you and Agent Black would be throwing a huge fucking party and talk about how you how Hollywood doesn't fuck them up.

What if you could write a book just by thinking it?

There are rumors Lucas is planning three more set hundreds of years after his first trilogy. I hope to God they're just rumors.

You know me too well.

I'd already have a string of extremely bad novels out, along with a few so-so books and maybe one or two masterpieces out there. I'd also have a new Star Trek series and a few dozen comics. I never stop writing... in my mind. It's getting things from my brain to paper that gives me grief.

Saddest quote from the first issue of Ultimate X-Men was when Professor X - snoopy psychic - says that the most amazing novels he has ever "read" will probably never be written.

Along the same lines... What if creating beautiful music was a bodily function, like eating or sneezing?

My life would be a hell of a lot easier. I'd be able to poo the lines that I currently expend blood sweat and tears trying to get right.

What if Jack Skellington really did take over from Sandy Claws this year?

Christmas would be much more stylish and interesting.

What if Emperor Constantine had perished on the battlefield?
