Why don't you just explain that you like him, but you're not ready for a relationship yet?

Because whenever I try to talk to people I already know about things like that, my brain just shuts down. I don't know why.

I hae a huge history of terrible relationship choices to draw on if you want advice that will probably result in "bad things" but which will be funny in retrospect.

I did it! I carefully explained about the situation with the ex, about how I'm still not ready for anything, and how I just want to be friends right now but maybe one day when things have calmed down and I have healed... bla bla bla feelings.

He was very understanding. I personally think it went well.

The "maybe" is something I would have avoided. No need to leave him always waiting for "maybe".

Orlok: I get that about public transport. Personally I love cars, old classics at car shows and occasional car rentals. They smell so new and clean. If I could I'd park our car and the family could use public transport but it's unrealistic when the car is here to be used. Still I will use the bus even with the kids when I can. Don't bother buying a car Orlok. Just get the license and rent a car every once in a while to keep in practice. The bus is far far safer too.

Alice: that's awesome girl! Never a bad thing to make a friend especially a friend with (relationship) potential, assuming he knows where he stands. I hope he's good to you (as a friend) you've been through enough.

I don't like it. I find that a good 75% of my excursions can be very easily accomplished by walking or taking the transit. I find cars to be an unnecessary and potentially problematic expense. My reflexes aren't the fastest in the West either - so I feel like because I'm not as quick to switch my right foot from either the gas or the brake pedal as a lot of others are. Sure, there's practice, but I remember when I had my learner's that I reallllly didn't like it. Parking was bull shit too.

I feel like having a car is also just another way that you're on the "hook" by society - by causing you to spend even more currency than you have to. I'm not saying I'm willing to "live off the grid," pitch a tent in the woods and live off the land or anything, but there are just too much unnecessary bothers that mainstream society deems as vital as breathing or excretion. Driving's bad for the environment, we're running out of liquid dinosaur + some pre-historic man to run the cars and trucks; and the fact that I feel like our culture seems to deem a driving license as some sort of "rite of passage" are just a few more reasons why I don't like to drive.

I would agree with that.

I live in Midwestern America, and right outside of Detroit ("Metro City"), which is known for cars and car factories. It is almost impossible to get anywhere without a car, and there is no reliable source of public transportation in the suburbs (where I live) or the city. The buses are messed up, and everything is too spread out to walk unless you don't mind walking for an hour.

The area I live in pretty much forces you to buy a car to get around. And if you don't have the money for one (like me), you're screwed. I actually would prefer to have a motorcycle and just not own a car. Either that or walk everywhere.

Actually, scratch that. I would much rather fly to get to where I need to go. And seeing as I am a bat, this should not be too hard to accomplish.

As far as what I am doing right now? Trying not fall asleep.

That's great. :) I hope things go well for you.

I'm working on a paper that I've put off for far too long.

Well, it's not because I can't see him as my boyfriend, it's just not going to happen right now. So that's basically what I wrote to him. Maybe I could have worded it a bit better, but I was tired, and I'm just happy he accepted it.

Well, aside from typing these words I am about to go and read "Catching Fire" for a little while, then watch "The Apprentice" and phone my boyfriend afterwards to talk about it at length. We enjoy life's simple things.

^^Catching Fire is good, but Mockingjay is better (if you are referencing what I think you are).

Trying to settle for bed, but waging war against a depressive low. It's a mild one, but still hurts like hell. :(

Suffering, as usual. Can't wait for the rebound headaches to give me a break... Other than that, it is time to prepare a meal then take a shower.

Alucard you're awesome! Really strong guy. I had migraines in the past, not fun at all.
