The only information I could find on St Paul being gay, were claims by one priest, it's a theory, but there's no evidence one way or the other.

When two types of people share the same life experiences it is normal for them to bond. The Gay Community has always been welcomed in the Goth subculture as long as I've known because, as Midi so eloquently stated already, they both face similar persecution from society. When has gender bending and fluating societal norms NOT been a part of this subculture? There's no need to ask what it's like to be Goth and gay, because a lot of us already know and even if we don't personally know, we have friends that do.

This is unfortunately not true with the transgender community, who can often be rejecting of Goths (Believe me I've been subject to it). While I see it with lesbians, gays and bisexuals being accepting, transgender individuals tend to be the opposite. Not to mention the fact that there is a major issue of the GLB individuals looking down on transgender individuals. Should have seen washington state, there were multiple instances where transgender individuals were basically segregated away from lesbians and gays during community events.

So while people SHOULD know what it is like to face discrimination it is not always the case. Bigotry comes in all shapes and sizes, whether you are gay, lesbian, straight, bisexual, transgender etc, bigotry can and often does remain.

Thank you for making this thread.

I have that picture saved to my computer, it makes me smile a tear up a little every time I see it. Only thing left now is to get rid of DOMA. I'm glad though that before my partner David passed while deployed that DADT, was repealed now I have about ten people he was friends with who have helped me out a lot that would have never known otherwise.

Thanks for the hugs, Hades, but I didn't create the thread. My (best) friend did who is no longer on the board.

I am sorry to hear that your partner passed away. That is sad. I can't wait for DOMA to be repealed as well. It is a horrible, horrible law.

I wouldn't get excited yet. The 9th is the most overturned court in the US. This'll probably go to the supreme court and then it's a matter of what they decide to do [if anything]. What happens then can be really good or really bad.

It's about time the government watched Prop 8 The Musical. Jack Black and Neil Patrick Harris is ever wise.

Midi is VERY happy about this. It should never have been put into law to begin with. Hopefully the Marriage Act will be next.
