Heya all!

I did a search but that didn't come up with anything interesting that was not about 2 years old so here we go:

Does anyone here more than me play EVE-Online? I find it to be an excellent game. While waiting for WoW: The Burning Crusade I play it. Or should I say, just started to play it. But I plan to keep playing it even after tBC is out for WoW.
If anyone else is playing it and such, what about starting a CORP? Just some random thoughts here.

(The game itself is free, just the monthly subscription fee)

Meh, I'm not really a big MMO fan myself, the genre's a tad too stagnant for me.

This one does seem different though, maybe I'll check it out.

Funny you should bring this up now. My hubby just cancelled his WoW account and re-opened his Eve Online account. He says they've updated a lot of stuff since the last time he played and he's just tickled pink about it. If you see him, I think his toon's name is either Breadfan or Baoghal.

A while after I cancelled my WoW account I decided to give EVE a try, since I loved Elite when I was younger* and space combat/trading games kick arse. While I was very impressed with EVE's open-ended gameplay, it's no-holds-barred attitude to PVP and its comprehensive trading system, I didn't last long. I'm not a wuss when it comes to PVP so it wasn't getting camped at jumpgates that made me quit, though that is annoying. No, what made me quit was the very slow pace of the game (plot course, activate autopilot, make cup of tea) and that I actually felt quite lonely in-game. If some of my RL friends from WoW had joined me I might have stuck it out.

All in all EVE is a good game and refreshingly different from your standard MMO fare, but it takes an investment of time and patience.

* I loved Elite so much I actually got "Elite" rating, because I kick that much arse. Did I mention that I accomplished this with an army of tribbles covering my viewscreen and eating all my cargo?

EVE Online: The game you do not play. No really. You just go in and pick new skills, then they train themselves while you're gone. It's about as tactical as Progress Quest. That said, it is pretty.

Of course, I haven't played it in years, so I could be wrong and it might have changed.
