Re: what is your favorite os
My Vista laptop is a load of shit. It's broken so many times I can't even remember. However, my ancient old XP desktop has been trundling along fine, gave it a present of 1GB extra RAM to get it up to speed, and not only does it work faster than my younger laptop with supposedly more memory, it just works better. Probably seems like I'm being picky but I really didn't like how I couldn't get the Start bar to hide the menus that I didn't use that often. Worked perfectly in XP. I tried an Ubuntu Live CD for the first time the other day and I really liked it. I'd miss not being able to game though And Spotify on a non-paying account. I'd try dual-booting but I've never done anything like that before, so a bit scary!

Dual booting is pretty easy. Unbunto sets it all up for you. I'd love to have XP just for gaming and everything else on Linux (I like Xubunto).

Re: what is your favorite os
I have Windows 7 on PC and Ubuntu on laptop because I need it for collage. Ubuntu is good but I prefer windows, maybe because I've been using windows since I saw computer for the first time. Games are another reason probably.

I like Unbunto because of it's stability. It could run for weeks whereas XP needs to be rebooted quite often as it gets buggy. Plus Unbunto uses memory a lot better than any Windows version I've ever used and is generally easier on the hard drive. It also doesn't get fragmented.....

Re: what is your favorite os
My favorite is either Linux Mint (I don't remember which one it was,it was on my friends laptop but I LOVED it) or Windows XP...Windows 7 is pretty good but it reminds me to much of Vista (and everyone would know why we'd hate that).
@ zoldos : Hmm,I like the sound of that,I'll have to try Unbunto (By the way guys,I just happened to notice like three different spellings for that,Hahahaha!!)

hehehehe I misspelled it. I'm pretty sure it's "Ubunto" lol I personally like Xubunto which is the same thing, but toned down a bit as far as integrated programs. But yeah, give it a shot. If it weren't for gaming, I'd never use Windows again!

I'm right behind you with that one, sure Linux has Emulators but they always bug up with me.Whenever I get my PC up and running I'm definitely going to dual boot it,but I'm having problems with getting the video-card drivers to work properly.Oh well, maybe next week. (More like month or season at this rate.)

Drivers for Linux or Windows? I was able to dual boot and when I got Xubunto going, downlaoded the Linux drivers. Speaking of video cards, I want an Nvidia GTX 500 series card with at least 1.5 gigs ram.

Heh-heh..Don't we all,oh,for Windows XP (actually the fact that I know what card that is is amazing because usually I don't know/remember the names or makers of hardware and software)

Re: what is your favorite os
lol The card I am looking at is around $250. That's not bad considering it's like 3 generations higher than my Nvidia Geforce 9800 GT with 512 megs.

Vista was no exception. It worked fine for me, and still does on the desktop. My laptop though as Windows 7 and I am loving Windows 7. I think its awesome. Then again, I don't do much on my computer so...yeah.
