 Recommend me some creepypasta!
I love reading creepy stories and urban legends from the internet, and I guess old school horror has bored me for a while now so indulging in some creepypasta has helped bring the old creepy spark back!
I'm currently working my way through the Slender Man mythos (Marble Hornets etc) but what other creepypastas would you recommend?

I've never heard of creepypastas, and when I first read it I thought it was some kind of food What exactly is a creepypasta?

 Re: Recommend me some creepypasta!
It does sound like food from dinner at the Addams family It's basically creepy stories/pictures/videos circulating the internet. Due to their authors not making it clear that they're fiction (deliberately) they get the urban legend treatment of being true (or not). The Slender Man is a pretty notable one, having been elevated to urban legend status even though he was actually formed from a 'create your own paranormal event' thread on SomethingAwful. Still a bit creepy though! I'm looking for webseries or short stories to read, and maybe pictures with (concocted) backstory.

Do you read the Creepypasta wiki? It has tons of stories archived on there.

 Re: Recommend me some creepypasta!
I had a look at the wiki and there's a few good stories on there, although there's a lot of not so good there too. I found a good list of some 'core' creepypasta on TV Tropes which I'll make my way through at some point. I've got my way through all the available episodes of Marble Hornets (Slender Man Mythos) - really enjoyed that and am looking forward to the next entries. Am just about to make a start on the EverymanHYBRID videos.

Usually I view all of the stupid "lost episode" or "Fatal glitch" creepypasta...I've read the Slenderman stories, they don't really get to me.

 Re: Recommend me some creepypasta!
I quite liked reading Stranger on a Train, but I like it when there's something visual (like the webseries people have made on some pastas). Reminds me a bit of a cross between Ringu and Blair Witch Project, without making me too nauseous from the shaky-cam. My next non-Slenderman pasta to watch will probably be the Ben Drowned series.

Visuals, huh? Immediately made me think of Candle Cove and The Haunted Majora's Mask Cartridge. Both have youtube videos accompanying them (prudent or otherwise, the latter has videos that are almost essential to the story.) and the second has a website dedicated to it. Both are good pasta in my opinion.

Found that Encyclopedia Dramatica has a few decent creepypastas on there (fortunately one of the few things there that are SFW). Link hereAlthough, the Russian parodies they link to are pretty amusing.

 Re: Recommend me some creepypasta!
Maybe not what you're looking for at all... but have you ever seen 'Ghostwatch'? It's an old British TV Halloween special that gained a bit of notoriety in its day. It was presented without warning to the viewers and used some well known presenters that gave it an air of authenticity (the female investigator at the scene hosted a children's show, so people figured it was safe to let the kiddies watch). It prefigures Blair Witch a bit, as well as the current crop of Ghost Hunter shows. It's a bit slow and dated... but as usual the payoff is better if you are patient and pay close attention... http://r3load.net/ghostwatch.html

Brings back memories... It's hilarious now but pant-wettingly scary at the time. Watching it today, you just pick out the worst acting in the world from the mother. The best part is trying to see all the 'appearances' of the ghost. And the reason it worked so well was the use of well-known TV faces (Sarah Greene, Michael Parkinson, Craig Charles etc.) I was a fan of Red Dwarf which is why I tuned in to watch it that one fateful Halloween...
