I looked for about 3 hours in barrie last sunday, checked the main street and mall and went in countless mens stores ranging from the average dress store to a leather store, NO ONE had a trenchcoat!! #( I even looked in sears and they didn't have anything more than a black long sleved shirt! this was in barrie about 1 1/2 from toronto, i don't live there but i'm close to there, anyway i'm going to toronto next saterday and was wondering if anyone could suggest any stores to go to that may have a trench coat or just a nice looking long black coat?

My boyfriend got a coat from Hot Topic {link} that's actually quite nice. He's 6'5" and it was the only one we could find at the mall {after searching for hours like you} that wasn't too short.

He turned the cuffs inside out on his because the sleeves were a little too short, and it still looked okay. If you do that you can take the buttons off of the cuffs and add them to the front so it closes better.

Darkflare - it sounds like you have overlooked one of the most important kinds of stores when shopping for coats, jackets, and other such wares = SECOND HAND STORES! They are pretty good when looking for trench coat type things. I have a few coats and jackets (really, really good ones) that have come from a second hand store (and always for a really good price).

You could also try any army disposal/surplus stores you may have around you. They often have a few gems hiding away in them.

Yeah, it's not THAT great, but it's all I could think of on such short notice. It's alright if you're not ubergoth and don't care if 20,000 other people are wearing the same coat as you.

If you're in a rural or suburban area, chances are you're not going to find a decent one at your local mall. That said, go to urban areas or urban malls or thrift stores to buy a coat. Go to higher end retail stores than Sears. That's just life. If you want an expensive coat then you have to learn to look in more pricy places.

If you have the ability to do so, shop online. But don't buy that coat that Nimrod suggested. That thing was just....ugh. I wouldn't sew up something like that if you put a gun to my head.

yeah, i went to toronto and found a great store with alot of stuff in it fairly cheap, and i found a good trench coat for $35 and it didn't look at all used and its got a red on the uper part of it thats really cool

Wow, when I looked at that pic before it was completely different. There was a guy with long brown hair modelling and he didn't have all that blood and stuff.
