Tucking boots - Yay or nay?
I'd like opinions on all kind of styles, but firstly about this one ( mine ). Picture this : Doc Martens 1460, 10 eyelets, i wear them under pants Black tight fitted ( not skinny, more like slim-straight leg pants) Plain black tees ( with small v-cuts mostly), plain black shirts, plain black jumpers, maybe a bit of dark colors here and there For chilly periods i would wear zip-up jumper, for colder periods my lovely coat :3 Not to brag, but i have rather handsome physique ( body ), shoulder length black curly hair, and green\blue (grey by definition, but they change from blue to green xd) eyes. I'm trying to pull off something like gothic Damon ( from Vampire Diaries, check up if you don't know who he is ), I've got mostly same shirts\tees and those sort, similar pants just black, and my question is, to wear my Martens with pants tucked into them or pants over them? NO SKINNIES, i don't like that look. so something like just a bit bunched pants at top of my boots. I like this rather simple look, with dark appearance, but complimented with gothic accessories and such.

Re: Tucking boots - Yay or nay?
Well boots tucked is generally a punk or military style. It has seemed fairly specific to those. I personally never liked boots tucked unless its under knee boots with no baggy pants.
the type of style you wear is very close to my man's. dock martins under jeans/black jeans (sometimes skinny jeans) with folded cuff. band T's with the sleeves cut off with a leather biker jacket topped off with a deathrock bone necklace I made him. He typically hates V-necks but i never minded them. its a fantastic style. you can be dark, gothic, punk, post punk, scene/emo, death rocker and still fit in the casual world without too many stares.
but tucked boots? i always thought that looked silly

Yes i thought about that, mixing something like romantic goth style with punk\military - just no. And for under knee boots, i like that one, but i'm from a judge-y town, i'm used to getting some weird looks for my previous ideas, but knee boots would just go over the top. I hated V-necks before too, but they suit me, nothing too big, just a small v-cut. and plain cotton black t-shirt just looks boring. thanks for your opinion, thought, i appreciate it

Re: Tucking boots - Yay or nay?
No worries. I am generally in black pants, a black shirt of some shape and a hoodie with a fur cuff and thumb holes. I am not a fan of docks, my pair hurts my feet. so i prefer keds (much like vans but more comfortable) - I only get dressy when theres an event to go to which is usually once a week or so. Strangely enough Sacramento is more of a cowboy city... so dressing anything punk, or gothic can get really awkward every day with the stares and harassment. the harassment is dieing down though.

If only people would mind their business more ... I'm ok with few strange looks, but it's a minus when it comes to teachers, parents, older people in general .. as about docs, i'm wearing mine everyday, walking about 5-6 hours a day, but i'm used to it

I'd say if you have pants tucked in Docs you ought to be wearing a flight jacket, otherwise boots with pants tucked in can be combat (includes zippper on the side unzipped), ren-faire style, high boots like Ian Anderson from Jethro Tull, or those that have a fold-down top like the new-romantic bands wore.
That's aboot it from me.

wearing flight jacket with pants tucked into doc martens would totally miss the style i'm looking for, and as for high boots, i shared my opinion on those, and for fold-down top boots, i find them cool, but no, not in this country .. i'll stick to normal, boots under pants. thank you anyway

I think it would look fine. I personally very much favor dressier styles but for what you are trying to do it does sound great. You might also consider black Frye boots.

'I think it would look fine' , 'it does sound great', i'm sorry, i'm not quite sure are you referring to tucked pants into boots or pants over boots

Re: Tucking boots - Yay or nay?
For myself, like most aspects of the goth life and clothing style... dress to the occasion. I go to work in an office, my boots are under my pants... I go grocery shopping, my boots are under my pants... I go to a party, or a club, wear leather pants or something with buckles and rivets, the pants may be tucked in.
I'd say, do what you are comfortable doing. If people stop and stare, and you're ok with that, then enjoy yourself. If you're walking around feeling awkward, tone it down.
If you do what works for you, when it works for you... you can't go wrong

I agree with you, but i've decided to wear them normally all the time, my gf also thinks it looks better, i need no bigger reason than that
