im 16 and a freshman and everyone thinks im in college! this one time in an itunes store me and my mom had to sign something and the guy gave it to me cause he thought i looked old enough

I get that a lot too! I'm only fifteen, but I've heard the comment "I thought you were in college!" more times than I can count. That's partly because I'm tall for my age - almost 5'8".

i can hardly belive how many times i get asked about GSCE's, i get asked so much, im clearly in high school but am quite tall for my age so i can see how people get confused. but SERIOUSLTY, they should look a bit closer and try to disipher somones age before making a random, (somtimes insulting), guess at their age. i know how u feel. so madening!

I look young for my age. I'm 26 and people have mistaken me for as young as 16. *sigh* I know I'll like it when I'm older but now it's just annoying.

I'm 32, but when I let my beard and facial hair get out of control (Grizzly Adams, anyone?), people think I'm well over 40. But when I'm clean shaven, I often get carded when buying liquor.

I think people have a hard time telling my age. I've gotten everything from 17 to 29. I'm 21, so I guess I look young and old for my age.

Oi. I've got what people call a baby face, so I look a few years younger than I am. Not helping: the fact that I have the body of a 12-year-old boy. Thank god I'm tall, or I'd still be getting the kids menu in restaurants.

I've always looked young for my age. When I turned 21, someone told me that I looked 17, which hurt. I've always been kind of self-conscious about it. However people tell me that that's a "good thing" as you get older. Now that I'm almost 29, I've started to look a little older. I look a little older and more impressive with facial hair also.

i'm 19 and I tend to slip people into thinking I'm either way younger or much older. Like, 40s. At a parent-teacher evening at my college once the receptionist asked me "Is your child with you?" And sometimes when talking to people of my age group or younger they think I'm about 15 or 16, and make comments about how "sweet" I am.
Strangely I also get mistaken for being the store manager in whatever shop I'm browsing in. :?

im 15, but im often mistaken for 19, or 20.mostly because im somewhat tall and broadshouldered for mu age, and i have some facial hair. i could be hanging around with people in my own grade, and be mistaken for someone in grade 11... which actually helps me get around school easily

I am 20 years old (soon to be 21 this Sunday!), and this is how I'm viewed:

I had just gotten out of the train station in Union Square, a popular hangout spot for NYC's youth. A girl comes up, and tells me her friend thought I was cute. Without knowing any better, I proceeded to meet this boy, only to find out he appeared very young. I asked, "How old are you?" He replied, "I am fifteen years old." After I let him know my age, his shocked face retorted I appeared 16 years.

Flash back to when I was 15, in Union Square, MTV promoters invaded the area in search for 18+ patrons. I was in constant bombardment by those promoters to join a silly contest, or sign up for an upcoming tv show.

How my face, not aged, but gave a more youthful look as I got older, I have no idea.

So I went to the YMCA today to register in order to get swim lessons:

"Okay what's your age sweetie?"

"Twenty-one."

"Oh. O_o"

The lady probably wasn't that much older than me (at the most probably 8 or 10).

So I guess that answers questions. People don't point out my age much.

Carpi, was she making that face over your age? Are you going there to learn how to swim? Most people learn to swim as kids so maybe she was just surprised that someone your age didn't already know how.
