Z is for zoroastrianism, which is a 6th century Persian religion and isn't goth at all, but it does believe in a struggle between light (good) and dark (evil).

I gotta say, when we get to stuff like xylophone and zoroastrianism, we're pretty much looking at the end of this. Well, we're trying, I guess!

In relation to this, I have to add:

E is for Ereshkigal, the Babylonian Goddess of the Underworld. Now there's a truly fucking gothic tragedy!

And since we were up to the letter I, I'll add:

I is for Irkalla, the realm of the goddess Ereshkigal and her consort, the death god Nergal.

J is for Jacob's Ladder, which is one of those electric-things with 2 V-shaped wires that arcs electricity between them. Often seen in Frankenstein and other B-grade horror movies.

(Incidentally, Nergal of the band Behemoth is recovering from his illness and hopes to have a new record in 2012.)

K is for Krampus, the demonic, horned companion of St. Nicholas (Santa Claus), who comes for the naughty children at Christmastime. Krampus is a popular figure in Austria, and here you can see a Christmastime Krampus parade (in the city of Graz, Austria).

Yay, Krampus! He's my kind of Christmas icon!

Thank you, and welcome to Goth.net, Taygete. Nice choice of screen name!

U is for Usher (from Edgar Allan Poe's story: "The Fall of the House of Usher").

V for Dave Vanian of The Damned.

And Taygete is also the name of a moon of Jupiter.

It is retrograde (moving backwards in orbit) and irregular (on an inclined, eccentric orbit, and captured rather than formed from Jupiter).
