Re: What Type of Goth do you consider yourself
I am a Candy Goth. I still wear black, etc., but add some color in(mostly brighter colors to contrast the black). So yeah. Candy Goth it is. I might end up changing styles, though. It's all about the experimenting. And besides, I've only been Goth for a little over a month, so I'm still considered a babybat. So yeah.

Re: What Type of Goth do you consider yourself
I am pretty much bog standard 80s/90s UK Goth that never really changed much. Black jeans, boots, shirt and ex-Royal Navy greatcoat have been my go-to wardrobe for the last twenty years. I do dabble in Chappism and Steampunk occasionally for fun but I am thinking of going a bit more Victorian for special occasions.

Re: What Type of Goth do you consider yourself
I don't really know what "type" I'd be. According to the above site, I'd say maybe a little Trad and Metalhead based on music taste, maybe a little Deathrocker thrown in. I'm kinda lazy when it comes to clothes- only making an effort once in a while, so I doubt I fit much in there lol. One thing I do know: I'm definitely a Summer-hating Goth. Summer is horrible- it's hot and sunny... Winter is much more preferable.

I consider myself as a tradicional/victorian goth with a touch of Gothic Lolita. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_-_gOqpuCZf4/S ... e_chan.jpg http://www.google.com/imgres?um=1&hl=en ... 00&bih=718

Re: What Type of Goth do you consider yourself
I call myself a flapper goth. ;D I try to do mostly 1920s themed outfits, although I admit I do wear other stuff that isn't really 20's; I don't limit myself too much so some of my stuff is more "modern", kinderwhore, or just stuff I really like.

Re: What Type of Goth do you consider yourself
A Trad Goth - but not totally stuck in the past.
I don't like EBM or any other kind of music that values "dance beats" over actual content. In the same way that I don't like the kind of ambient/ethereal or industrial-experimental that has seemingly no actual ideational content. Inventive use of noise, that's one thing - aimless droning, that's quite another.
I became a goth in the '90s - you can guess the rest.
PS: That Guardian article yesterday - good publicity for Whitby and Carl McCoy but anyone else who read it would think that the genre died out at the end of the '80s. When arguably it really came of age in the mid '90s when the Stun, Suspiria, Die Laughing, Manuskript, ALF and dozens of others were doing their thing.

Re: What Type of Goth do you consider yourself
I have to admit that I'm not as down with the different facets of gothic subculture as many people on here seem to be. I also don't really identify myself as a goth, as whilst most of my interests are relevant to gothic music and fashion, I'm into other things as well. I tend to identify with romantic goth, Victorian goth, gothabilly and steampunk.
Essentially I'm a fair-weather goth.

I am most certainly one of the GeekGoths...
While I am very new to the subculture, I am extremely fascinated by it. However, that's just me...

Re: What Type of Goth do you consider yourself
I try not to be too specific about that kind of stuff. I don't want to pin myself down. Sometimes, you wouldn't even know I'm a Goth if you didn't know me, because of the way I'm dressed, acting, what I'm listening to or talking about or watching, etc. I consider myself pretty eclectic. The one thing that bugs me is the prejudice a lot of Goths have, those who say that Goth is dead, that _x_ person or _x_ type of Goth isn't a "real" Goth, or a poseur, or whatever. My (silent) answer to that is always, "Go eat a bat." I self-identify as Goth, but I have a philosophy about other people goes along with that. You think I'm a Goth? That's rockin'! Think I'm not a Goth? That's rockin', too!
I agree with many who say that Goth is a mindset, an outlook, a worldview, and a way of life. Darkness as a way of life, creativity or intellectualism or poeticism, acceptance of pain as a means of growth, and the beauty of being one of the children of the night. If you dress a certain way or enjoy a certain style of music, it's not an act but a reflection of who you are inside-- the parameters of which are, for me, always streching and morphing.
Victorian? Yes. Punk? Heck yes. Metal? Depends on the metal and my mood. Hippie? Always. Silly? Never not. Serious? 100%! Old-fashioned? Sure. Modern? Why not! Dark? Constantly! Steampunk? Sometimes. Harajuku? Oh my Goth, yes. Chipper? Too often. Romantic? I can be. Realistic? I try to be. Refined? Totally. Immature? Totally. Moody? Occasionally. Rascally? You know it. Wry? I can be. Eclectic? It defines me! Is that a type of Goth? If so, then I'd call it "the individual Goth." The Goth who defies all reason. The Goth who doesn't let other Goths or non-Goths define who they are or put them in one box without letting them explore a little. It's fun to be this way!

Re: What Type of Goth do you consider yourself
At this point in my goth career (early..not babybat...but just shaking off my babybat tendencies) I would consider myself a cross between romantic and trad, well more romantic with trad tendencies...

Re: What Type of Goth do you consider yourself
For the moment I would say "The Fetish Goth" but it changes over time. I find it nice to change the look to reflect my feelings over time. Steampunk is also something that is close to me for the moment.

Re: What Type of Goth do you consider yourself
I hope I don't offend anyone by saying this, but I find that a lot of people try really hard to identify with certain groups, probably an innate need to be accepted, and thusly they alter their images/personality to identify with said group. In my honest opinion, when it comes to being "goth", I don't think you find goth, I think it finds you, if that makes any sense. For me personally, I am just me, but it happens that my tastes in music, clothing, and personality traits might be closely identified with the goth culture. That's really the best answer I could give to the topic's question, sorry. Just my thoughts.

Apparently I'm a 'mindf**k' goth. Who knew? Okay, obviously everyone here knows that, but then, they know me here...

Re: What Type of Goth do you consider yourself
I am definately a plain old Goth at the moment, but you wouldn't know it if you saw me. I don't really want to draw too much attention to myself when I'm going out shopping etc, so I usually wear jeans and a black T shirt, and if it's cold, a black bomber jacket. I usually wear a pendant such as a cross or pentegram, and 2 skull rings. I do have some Wild T shirts featuring some scary images, but wearing those down the shops was a bit unnerving for fellow shoppers, so I refrain from doing so now. So I guess I may not visually give too much away as being a Goth, but I have a strong feeling of being part of the Goth culture. I think if I was much younger, I probably would dress more like a Goth, but as it is I am just happy to feel and live like a Goth. At home in the living room, I have two Gargoyles on the living room wall near the ceiling, and various skull ornaments on the shelves. In the hallway, a Halloween bat hangs from the ceiling, and as well as a scary head with bulging eyes. In the bedroom I have some scary posters on the wall, just to help me sleep at night. So yes that's the kind of Goth I am, I hope this makes me a true Goth.
