Quote:
Would you want your grandma living in an abandoned hospital so well known for its creepy atmosphere and alleged hauntings that it has been used in various Hollywood productions by folks like Rob Zombie and the makers of the horror film "Se7en"?...

"People tell me it's the most haunted place in L.A.," said Maurice Ramirez, executive vice president of Amcal Multi-Housing Inc., the affordable housing group heading the hospital's conversion. "Because it's been empty for maybe 25 years or so, it becomes the subject of a little urban folklore about ghosts and things."

Who learned from Spielberg that bad things happen when corporations build over old cemeteries and other places that disturb the ghosties....

Ghost adventures talked about this a few weeks ago, it prompted them to do the location a second time [they had already done it once a season or two ago].

Its my understanding that they plan to raze some or all of Linda Vista before building the senior housing. If this paranormal stuff is "for real" leveling the place might either increase or decrease activity.

That one asylum that's been all over these paranormal shows just outside of Philly is supposedly going to be turned into a high end [almost "gated community"] suburban neighborhood.

I don't know how Linda Vista is but if it goes back to the 19th century they're probably going to have to deal with finding a pauper's field. State hospitals, particularly ones that ever operated as asylums or poorhouses tended to have one on-site. Pauper graves even today aren't normally marked so if its there, they'll find it by accident & delay the project as people figure out what to do with them all. Just recently there was a news piece about a state hospital that was in the middle of an expensive expansion when they discovered one of the parking lots was covering 1500 [or more] unmarked graves.

When GA did Linda Vista the first time they found that there were still human remains on site in the building. The hospital closure was so rapid & unplanned that the facility is still full of medical records, and bones in & around the crematorium [which still has ash in it].

Well, I know what nursing home I'll be going into when I'm old...

On a personal level, I'm not sure how I feel about this.
