Hello there fellow goffs...i was wondering if anyone knew of any site which provides FREE webpages. FREE being the keyword. I currently have a webpage at poetrypoem.com to post my poetry on, but it sucks...it never updates anything and it always just...it...agh! it just sucks. So...does anybody have any suggestions on where to go to be able to make a cool webpage for FREE?

http://www.angelfire.com, http://www.geocities.com, and there are countless others if you go to google and easily put in a search for "free webspace"

The only problem with free webspace is the ads. Pop up after pop up, thousands of banners, all of them required.

I can assure you they don't have fees. I have a geocities account and pay nothing, and just last week my brother created an angelfire account

You lot really don't pay attention around here do you?

GOTH.NET has free pop-up ad-free webspace. We do have a few requirements set out on the Members page though... which basically boils down to having some knowledge of html and an absence of annoying trailing cursors and animated images and preferably a page that doesn't commit visual rape ;)

Considering we offer it free and ad-free, we figured we were allowed to be a bit picky.

:P

But yes, geocities and angelfire still have free webspace. I know xoom.com used to, and there's also grrlpages.com if I'm not mistaken. Usually you get webspace from your internet service provider with your account, so I'd check that out too as an option.

Hmmm. I'm thinking I should look into this. I've been dealing with Geo-stingies for over four years, and they recently began restricting bandwidth usage.

Several people have pestered me to move. The lack of reliable freespace has kept me from doing so.

J.T.~going to consult FAQ. Edit:have consulted FAQ. My files would probably take up more space than I'm allotted. Oh well. :?

More than 8mb (which is free)?

And you can't afford the uberExpensive cost of $5/YEAR to go to 16mb? (we're not talking a month here, a YEAR)?

hrm.

That's what happened with my Angelfire account. Strange, isn't it?

We grant 8Mb free per site. I'm not sure what you house on your website, but that's more than adequate for a website... to give you an idea, the entire GOTH.NET site proper, without the forums and user sites, is only 4.65Mb, and that includes all the art submissions and the like... if I can get a site this size under 8mb, it shouldn't be hard for other people. Granted sites that use Flash or something obviously use more space.

If you need more than 8Mb I get the feeling you're storing things on there that probably wouldn't be allowed under our Terms and Conditions (we don't allow storage of anything like mp3s that you do not retain copyright of, and generally it's mp3s or warez etc. that tend to eat up space fastest).

We offer more webspace for a small fee, this is in part to try and recoup some of our costs. More info on the Members section.

:) Nope, no Mp3s, or WareZ, I'm definitely not one of those leet wanx0rs. It's a gallery site: .jpgs, a few .gifs, and the standard .htms and .htmls I wrote all of the HTML, and keep things very tidy.

I'm not sure how many .jpgs I have exactly...close to or over a hundred (they all have thumbnails) spread out over four galleries...and they take up about 10 megs at any given time. I remove things often, but I'm also always adding new ones. Given time, I could easily fill 8megs without even trying. But 16 megs for $5 a year seems very doable.

Thing is, it says in the Content policy that "pornography" is not allowed. I'm not sure any of my images fall under the category: no genitals appear. But there's guy/guy stuff happening, of a tasteful nature. Some people find that objectionable...some don't. I'd have to let you guys be the judge...if I submit for space, and I just might.

What payment options do you offer?

J.T.~BTW, I will create shameless self-promo post over in Art & Print...soonish.

Brinkster also offers some neat FREE hosting if your Goth.Net account-request should not get through.

Just a tip!
