Personally Near Dark is by far my fave Vampire film, I think the key word to remember here ppl is "atmospheric"......say it with me : atmo-spheric.
I think its from around the same time as the lost boys, but it isnt dated like the lost boys is, because it wasnt so wrapped up in 80's popular culture.

I like it because of the way the vampires weren't Vlad-Pretentious types. The common cliche amongst such things is that upon becoming a vampire, one automatically has a large country house and millions in the bank: the image of a gang of vamps driving around in a van with blacked out windows is more refreshing then the "immortal-ponce" idea from Interview with a Vampire.

Yes, but Lestat also got a job anyway as a singer in a band. Otherwise, he would have been lying in a mouldy crypt dressed in rags for another 100 years.
