Man I love Trey and Matt. They totally have their finger on the pulse of today's youth.

 Re: Last Night's South Park
Not to speak for Spidey, here, but I think we can all safely assume that throwing up in your mouth would indicate something bad. This was a recent episode? I have NO IDEA what's going on in pop culture these days, and even my old, crusty ass knows that "popular goths," Brittany and Justin are all a a couple of years worth of passé.

 Re: Last Night's South Park
I love Trey and Matt's work. They're disgusted with pop culture, but also obsessed with it. South Park is getting a little old, but they still manage to get in some really A+ Satire.
Like after Obama got elected and Randy Marsh wakes up after days of partying...
"Where are my pants? Where are my pants and where is my TV? Obama said there'd be change. He lied to us! Damnit, I shoulda voted for McCain...."

 Re: Last Night's South Park
I thought it was OK, but they pitted the Goths against the wrong people. They should have gone after the Emos. (Just kidding)
I like them when they are more edgy, not just when they'r poking fun at goth kids. This bit would have been funnier had it come out around the time that Interview With a Vampire came out considering the outdated references to things like Banana Republic and the fact that they are referring to Hot Topic as though it is something new.
I will, however, give them some kudos for the song "Hot Topic is Burning". That was a great little ditty.

~spidey, who thinks Trey and Matt are a wee bit "out of touch" The reason for the episode being aired probably has to do with the Twighlight book series and movie, but there was only passing mention of it in the episode. I have no idea whether Twighlight has anything to do with fake goths though.

I thought the episode was semi amusing not as funny as some I've seen however.

~spidey, who thinks Trey and Matt are a wee bit "out of touch" Well from what I understand the Twilight series of books/movies has become really popular among scene/emo douchebags and Hot Topic and Torrid even have Twilight-themed clothing lines. They even did a Twilight-themed concert tour when the last book came out featuring the douchebag from the MTV eyeliner band Blue October.

 Re: Last Night's South Park
So, forever ago, Lady A introduced me to this radio station. [shameless promotion] Sanctuary Radio plays fantastic "goth, EBM, industrial, alternative" music 24hrs/day without commercial interruptions. [/shameless promotion] Anyways, a few days ago, they started playing a clip of "the difference between goths and vampire kids" speech between songs. Unsure of it's origin, I went on to find the Ungroundable episode online and proceeded to watch. I will admit, I'm not a South Park fan. I get all of 3 channels on my tiny TV and none of which broadcast South Park. So, my exposure has been minimal and limited to witnessing random impressions of Cartman (and due to my unfamiliarity, most often this humour is lost on me). Anyways, while bored and procrastinating on writing an essay, I decided to try to download the episode in question. Maybe it's just me, maybe it's the "newness" and "novelty" of South Park for me, maybe I'm really that "behind the times", maybe the sleep deprivation was going to my head, maybe I should have used a ventilated area when spray painting... but I freakin' loved it! I laughed so hard, I woke up my fiancé in the other room. Then, when he was awake, I forced him to watch it so I could justify watching it again. I loved the goth kids. I loved that little Butters boy thinking he was a vampire. I loved the part when the principal pulls the kids into the office to discuss the vampire trend and she gives her whole lecture. Then, it turns out she has the goth kids not the vampire kids. And burning down the Hot Topic! It was just completely ridiculous and I enjoyed every minute of it. Anyways, I'm done ruining any respect I may have garnered on these boards. ~Freaky

I laughed. For some reason, I found it quite entertaining.
And Butters is the cutest thing ever but I'll admit, South park was better before.

Actually, an earlier episode in the season ("Breast Cancer Show Ever" I think it was called) poked fun at how average people confuse goths with emos. I watched this episode nearly everyday OnDemand, because it was funny, and on some level, true about the whole Hot Topic/Twilight uproar. I guess I'm only saying this because I was never a Twilight fan to begin with, but Hot Topic will plaster anything with a tween vampire story, or something "ebil" (like Hello Kitty; she doesn't even have to be "gothic") to attract the fans and money-spending teenagers. But anyway, I agree that this was to poke fun at the Hot Topic/Twilight/Mallgoth relation, since in the real world, the fans of Twilight go to Hot Topic to pick up a "Team Edward" t-shirt, but then they think, "Hey, since I'm already here, I can dress dark for fun too!". Whether Trey and Matt were just bored and wanted to do something funny and mischieviously light-hearted as a season finale, or if they were actually trying to get a point out, if it was the latter, Hot Topic apparently didn't "get it", because I found this little doozy a few weeks after: http://www.hottopic.com/hottopic/store/ ... 1500868807There's more where that came from. -_-
