Re: Anime Goths - Goths with anime in their pockets.
Just watched all of Elfen lied last night and I have to say it is a must to watch for any anime fan, its only 13 episodes but they fit a better story in there then some animes that go on for hundreds of episodes.
now it is TV-MA as it has blood, gore, nudity, and over all it kinda F's with your brain.
I love it and its now in my top 10 best anime list right behind Code geass

I don't generally like anime series, but a lt of anime films I've watched were really good. The Cat Returns is my favourite.

Re: Anime Goths - Goths with anime in their pockets.
I'll admit to liking some anime films and a few shows.
In terms of films I loved the obvious classics such as Akira, Ghost in the Shell 1 & 2 (there's a third, but it's based off the show and not in line with the other films), and even Jin-Roh (which is probably my all time favorite, to be honest)
The original Appleseed was pretty good too, I thought. Though I've only seen it once a year or two ago.
For shows, I liked the "not-so-classics" such as Code Geass and Ergo Proxy. Not much of a DBZ fan or anything. I need to start Noir again, that was an amazing anime that I never finished watching.

Code Geass is one of my favorites I like R1 & R2 and i just found out they are working on R3 now so there will be a third season for Code Geass though i have heard it will have little to do with Lelouch. I watched DBZ as well and I can not get over the huge plot holes and the whole idea and style of the anime.

I may need to rewatch it to get myself back up to speed for R3, if necessary. And I'm the same about DBZ. I have friends who are really into it, but I watched about five episodes, couldn't get into the story, art, and found myself thinking "THIS is the great achievment in anime everyone is talking about, huh?" And this is coming from a guy who liked the 80's version of Appleseed

However if you look at anime today most of it can top DBZ's "story" line very easy. Hell, Elfen leid did in 13 episodes what most animes take 20-50 episodes(i.e be intertaining) the thing about DBZ is its for people who grew up with it and watched it as a kid, to them its the best thing in the world.

the thing about DBZ is its for people who grew up with it and watched it as a kid, to them its the best thing in the world. Yeah, that's a good point. For it's time, it was good, but unlike some others (like Akira), it just doesn't hold up. Maybe we were just to spoiled by having so many others to choose from

Hey, if you(or anyone else) knows any good dark animes let me know, good plot twists dark undertones, blood, gore. Things like Elfen lied, deadman wonderland, code geass, death note, black butler, Helsing, ect.

Things like Elfen lied, deadman wonderland, code geass, death note, black butler, Helsing, ect. Well, I can certainly suggest Ergo Proxy (which I mentioned earlier, but didn't put much emphesis on). It's pretty dark, and has a meloncholic tone through out. It's a VERY interesting series, and a really thick, somewhat gothy tone times. Though, the plot is very intricate and will require more than one viewing probably (I watched through the series once, maybe two years ago, and decided a second viewing was in order). I own it on DVD, so I'm gunna need to rewatch it eventually. Though, I must admit, I'm rather behind on my anime lately because I've been watching other shows on netflix, but plan on starting more.

I have heard of that anime, I think I will check it out now. See I watch anime online on two sites that have every anime ever made pretty much. You have netfix, check out soul eater on there if you have not already, its good.

Ergo Proxy and the GiTS 'franchise' are great!
Karas, RahXephon, and Evangelion are personal faves, plus all things Miyazaki and Oshii Mamoru.
Don't yell, but I still find some of the Tenchi Muyo series a lot of fun......and the movies too.
Almost anything by CLAMP as well (xxxHolic looks atrocious compared to the manga though).

I absolutely adore Kuroshitsuji! I heard there´s 2nd season but I haven´t seen it yet. I loved Vampire Knight (and completely fell in love with Zero so I named my budgie after him) and Shugo Chara which, I admit, was a bit cheesy but still cute! And I liked yaoi anime Junjou Romantica, it was so funny! Misaki and Usagi are probably my favourite anime/manga characters ever. Death Note was good, as well. I used to watch a lot of anime before. Those were the days.

Re: Anime Goths - Goths with anime in their pockets.
I have been getting more into manga than anime recently.
Some great stuff like Angel Sanctuary and Please Save My Earth have never had a complete anime translation, so I am glad my library has them available. (For how long is another story.)
As far as anime I am really enjoying Robotech right now.
