Jim Aparo was a significant artist in the history of DC comics (DC being the company famous for Batman, Supeman, Wonder Woman, etc.). He will be missed.

I didn't recognize the name, but I recognized his work. He was an amazing artist.

Sorry I missed this thread when it was first posted, but I certainly did not miss notice of Jim Aparo's death.
Batman is my hero, and when I was growing up in the '80s, Jim Aparo's pen gave me eyes into his world. Mr. Aparo shepherded Bruce Wayne through years and years of issues of Batman comics, even illustrating the groundbreaking "A Death in the Family" storyline that saw the second boy to wear the Robin suit murdered by the Joker. In many ways, Mr. Aparo was the stylistic heir of the great Neil Adams, who brought the "Dark" back to the Dark Knight in the '70s, but ultimately his art was wholly unique. He brought a great amount of humanity to Gotham City with his nuanced facial expressions and realistic physiques. Many artists excell at making Batman into a stylized, supernatural image; Jim Aparo made Batman look like a real person. He will be sorely missed.
