 Re: What books are you reading/have read/like a lot/ hate a lot?
I read classic books in the last years. Most of the authors are dead since centuries and I love it. Christian Hofmann von Hofmannswaldau (1616-1679), Goethe, Schiller, Heine, Heim, Trakl and many other poets. The second line is philosphy Nietzsche and Kant are my favourites. The sociologist Niklas Luhmann an contemporary theorist is the author I have read most. At the moment I'm reading Niccolo Machiavelli, The Prince, but i think Nietzsches Zarathustra is the book I've read 10 times or more.

Goethe is amazing.
I have a book entitled Napoloen by Emil Ludwig which I treasure greatly. It in are many Goethe quotes that are centered around Napoleon. My favorite (and yes, I have it memorized):
On Judgment day before God's throne There stood at last Napoleon. Satan had his list begun Of thing the Bonaparte's had done When God the Father or God the Son Cut Satan short before God's throne. (and said?) "If you're bold ennough to take him, In Your kingdom You may place him."
I have already packed that book or else I'd double check the exact word. I use to know it by heart because I loved it so much.
And if anyone loves Napoleon, that book (Napoleon by Emil Ludwig) is a must.

spiderlimbs wrote: Books I like are usually funny horror/mystery types like Jasper Fford and Christopher Moore. Both are funny in their own ways, but the stories are actually pretty compelling and their books make for easy reading. I also love reading Newbury Award winning children's books. That's how I discovered the Tale of Despereaux and I just read Mrs Frisby and the Rats of Nimh.
I have no idea why, but this made me think of a book I loved growing up called If You Give A Mouse A Cookie.

Yes, I did! And I noticed another post you made (about Hammer movies) coincided with their review of "The Resident"!

 Re: What books are you reading/have read/like a lot/ hate a lot?
I’m reading T he Book Thief by Markus Zusak. I didn’t like it at first and I almost gave up reading. However, I'm glad that I didn't because it’s amazing. I see myself in that little girl in the book. The story goes just fine for now and every character has its own purpose, what is something I respect and like seeing in books. It has a potential to be on my 50 favourite books list The thing I find very interesting is that everything is happening in the Hitler's time, but I must admit that the same thing has actually made me to put the book away at first. Here is the site if you want to check it out

I finally finished 2001: A Space Odyssey. It was could, but I couldn't decypher what happened at the end. But still, no spoilers, so don't explain it on this forum.
Um, what else... I started reading the Alex Cross series by James Patterson, and I like those novels. I'm on Kiss the Girls, and I'm about ready to kill Casanova. The bastard...

There is one book which I could read over and over. It's called White Noise by Don deLillo.

I kind of hate myself for liking the City of Bones series by Cassandra Clare. I usually refuse to read teen adult books because there's a ridiculous lean "love at first sight". This series is no exception.
