ok so heres the deal... how about we all write some record reviews since im bored and this doesnt seem like that bad of an idea, i think it'll give people good ideas on what to buy beyond just the reccomended thread.
so i'll start it. =:)
The Cure
"Faith"
1981
one of my first goth purchases ever, the cure's "faith" album is extremely dark and depressing. starts off with "the holy hour", a track of jangling chords and persistant bass lines and minimalist drumming. throughout the record, the idea of minimalism occurs in every song. they're all very basic. "the funeral party" a song of gloomy, layered keyboards, and a monotonous bass line, and bleak vocals make it one of the better songs on the album. the album is fairly short in length only about 45 minutes, and the final track "faith" is a song of on bass playing some lines over and over and one bass with special effects, a looped drum beat, and the most depressing vocals ever delivered. "faith" is one of the most depressing songs i've ever heard in my life... and i love it to. overall, the record oozes with gloominess, bleakness, sorrow, and pure Goth. Highly reccomended.

Nevermind, I think somebody made a suggestion of such a thread and it was shot down. I apoligize for my mistake. The reason the suggestion did not go over so well was because there would be reviews for countless different albums in the same thread and that could get confusing. Oh well, I guess we will see how this thread does.

Hmm....
Yngwie Malmsteen - The Collection
A great album who greatly appreciate technical skill. The guitar is absolutely amazing throughout the entire album. It is a mixture of a few of Yngwie's styles, mainly the neo-classical sort and the more mainstream pop songs. Both are enjoyable. The first few songs are instrumentals, untarnished by words. It then progresses to the 80s influenced ( probably composed sometime around then ha) pop songs. Stand out songs would be Déjà vu and Far Beyond the Sun. Intense sounding tracks. A great album overall.

Well, I guess I`ll start one right now.....
