I found Swaroop C H's 'A Byte of Python' to be very useful in this - a lot of programming language tutorials explain the language on the basis that you're migrating from another language already. ABoP explains the programming concepts as it goes, and it has the bonus of teaching you Python; very han...

As to why people still use Microsoft stuff is beyond me and probably subject to a study in mass marketing and psychology rather than study in the areas that encompass the several I.T. fields. I think mostly because it's what they're used to - the majority of these people will have started with an O...

Currently duel booting Windows Vista along Ubuntu Hardy Heron, but hopefully that will change once I figure out how to get my audio firewire interface up and running in Ubunto Studio. Until then I'll have to deal with Sonar in Windows. Unless Virtualbox or VMware get some firewire support soon that...

So, I'm going to have to look into Government Assistance (Welfare) to live debt-free and healthy Why not get a part-time job instead? I work full-time during the breaks between semesters and years on my BA, and usually earn enough in the downtime to allow me to not work at all during the course its...

Hell's Angel and I have currently been experimenting with a blender we found around the house - all sorts of ice-cream based milkshakes and drinks can be made with a little imagination, or even fruit smoothies!

Alas, I cannot do it, because my BSOD flashes once, and the computer immediatly reboots, instead of freezing for a prolonged time. :( You might try looking through the log files listed here - it might be that something like the Dr Watson post-mortem debugger (or similar) would've saved the error. h...

Well the obvious one to suggest would be Garry's Mod - a physics sandbox for the Source engine, and well worth the money on Steam. You might also wanna keep an eye on the Goldeneye and Perfect Dark TCs - they're both gun-oriented, but heck - it's Goldeneye and Perfect Dark! There's also a couple of ...

I would be less worried about what games you'd be buying, and more worried about what items in your living room you'd be replacing - at the last count, two lightbulbs (plus their fittings) and a coffee cup have fallen victim to the flailing that most games seem to think approximates the movement of ...

Here's a public service announcement for you all: Spending 30 hours awake doing university work may seem like a good idea the day before when you're rested, but at the other end when your ruined body is shaking and weak because of overdosing on stimulants, it strikes you that maybe it wasn't such a ...

I've been going through an acoustic phase at the moment, so i've been listening to a lot of later Dead Can Dance, and i've also recently 'discovered' the John Butler Trio - very funky stuff :D As an almost direct polar opposite, i've also started putting on stations from Bluemars.org when I want to ...
