Heard a new one from a co-worker today...

If you have scratches in your furniture, rub a candle over the scratch then polish like usual. Scratch simply disappears and the furniture polish seals in the wax.

In Salem's Lot, King also nails the interpersonal relationships of small towns perfectly. In any small town where residents have lived for generations, there is a thin veneer of civility and affability towards outsiders overlaying a ruthless, nearly evil, code towards each other.
I was much like Ben Mears. I spent my early years in a very small community where my mother's family is, and then returned there twice, as a teenager, and again as an adult. So, like Mears when he returned to the Lot, I was accepted by locals to a degree, but not with the same status as an "insider".

Quite right. Steampunk evolved separately from Goth. Steampunk is literature based, while Goth is music based. (I wrote an article on the differences last year when some deathrockers were bashing steampunk because of the music, which is quite immaterial to Steampunk.)
I also agree that the confusion emerged because here in he US, many Goths have migrated to Steampunk. Some of these Goths do not fully understand the roots of Steampunk, and that's where we get erroneous statements such...

We saw Underworld: Awakening in IMAX 3D last Sunday. We really enjoyed it; almost non-stop action, and the 3D effects were great. I hadn't seen an IMAX movie in years, and it was really a treat.
